Obituary for Ada M. Patterson

Ada Mae Patterson, 83, of Winchester, VA went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, September 21, 2017.

Ada was born on February 15, 1934 in Frederick County, VA, a daughter of the late Jason Ray Whetzel, Sr. and Ruby Albright Whetzel. She worked for National Fruit for over 25 years. Ada was a member of the Blue Ridge Grace Brethren Church in Winchester, a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts pack # 10 and had a love of reading.

Ada married Marshall Edward Patterson on June 6, 1954 in Stephens City, VA. Mr. Patterson died on July 17, 2004.

Surviving are her four children: Bruce Edward Patterson and his wife Marie Virginia of Winchester; Cheryl Regina Hudson and her husband Timothy Andrew on Berryville; Erin Ray Patterson; Gary Scott Patterson and his wife Sherry all of Winchester; a sister: Ruth Johnson of Winchester and a brother Jason “Bud” Whetzel of Burkeville, VA 10 grandchildren & 21 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sister Betty June Fox.

A funeral service will be held at the Giffin Funeral Home & Crematory in Capon Bridge, WV on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 1:00 PM. Officiating will be Pastor Darrell Taylor. Interment will be privately held. Family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork Street, Winchester, VA 22601.
