Obituary for Charles E. Sparks

Charles ("Charlie") Sparks a 35 year resident of the Augusta, WV area passed away unexpectedly, at home, at the age of 70 on Tuesday, August 22, 2017.

Charles was born in Everitt, Washington on October 30, 1946 to Earl S. Sparks and C. Eudine ("Deannie") Prater. Charles was also a 35 year resident of Western New York State, graduating from high school at Ten Broeck Academy in Franklinville, NY in 1965. Charles is preceded in death by both parents as well as a brother-in-law Walter (“Jim”) J. Crary of Capon Bridge, WV.

Upon graduation, Charles served in the United States Navy serving his country from the fall of 1965 until October of 1969 aboard the USS Tripoli shipping out from San Diego, CA to the Philippines during the Vietnam War. He left the Navy with the rank of SK3. Charles worked in New York State at several businesses including Blue Bird Coach Lines, Motorola and Sylvania. During his years in West Virginia, he worked at O'Sullivan's of Winchester, Virginia for 35 years.

Charles leaves behind four children: Pauleen (Clare) Sherman of Hunt, NY, Janice (Richard) Hirschman of Albion, NY, Andrew Sparks of Loveland, CO and Christine Sparks of Hamlin, NY. Charles also leaves behind six grandchildren: Cody, Dakota and Dylan Sherman of New York State, Brendon Kasprzyk, Riley and Owen Hirschman all of New York State and one great-granddaughter, Aaliyah Sherman also of New York.

Charles leaves behind two sisters; Earleen Crary of Capon Bridge, WV and Melissa (Richard) Nix of Ischua, NY as well as one brother, James A. Sparks of Limestone, NY. Many beloved nieces and nephews along with great nieces and nephews are left behind as well: Walter E (Angie) Crary of North Pole, AK, Kathy (Gene) Fletcher of Capon Bridge, WV, Debbie (Mike) Hogbin of Romney, WV, Patrick Crary of Winchester, VA, Shannon (Jerome) King of Ashburn, VA, Sean Nix currently of Ischua, NY, JES Sparks of Salamanca, NY, and Rachael McCloskey of Ridgeway, PA.

A memorial/interment service with Military honors will be held at a date and time at the convenience of the family in Ischua, NY.
