Obituary for Dennie G. Clark

Dennie Gordon Clark, 75, of Winchester, VA went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Dennie was born on August 20, 1942 in Whitacre, VA, the son of the late Gordon L. and Carmen Stotler Clark. Owned and operated Clark’s Contracting. He did all types of construction from building new homes to the restoration of older homes. Dennie had a vision of what something could look like; for those of us that did not we often bounced our ideas off of him. He truly was a Perfectionist when it came to details, it had to be right nothing else would do. Our family home is a True Testament to this.

Dennie’s true passion shined when he started building custom furniture. A workshop was built so that when he retired he could spend all the time he wanted there. Beautiful pieces came out of the shop doors, and these heirlooms will be cherished by present and future generations. He truly was a Master Craftsman. His hobbies which included watching Nascar (favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt, Sr.), Westerns and being outdoors. He was a member of the Calvary Church of the Brethren in Winchester, VA.

Family is what counted the most to dad. He truly loved each and everyone unconditionally. Anytime we gathered as family was a great time, especially the holidays. Friendships held a special place in dad’s heart. The friendships he made was a True Testament to the man he was. Loved by not only his family but by his friends too. We all have such wonderful memories and will cherish them always.

Dad fought a Courageous battle and he won by God’s healing. He will be truly missed each and everyday. This is not good-bye but until we meet again.

Dennie married Delores McDaniel Clark on July 2, 1958 in Winchester, VA.

Surviving with his wife of nearly 60 years are two sons: Ronald L. Clark and wife Wendy of Stephenson, VA; Christopher G. Clark and Becky of Winchester, VA; three daughters: Pamela T. Haines and husband John; Lorrie A. Jenkins; Tonya L. Clark-Dorsey and husband Darrel all of Winchester, VA; a sister: Juanita “Sis” Dabbs of Roanoke, VA; ten grandchildren: Steve & (Ashley) Haines, Cherie & (Rick) Butler, Peyton Clark, Craig Parrill, Shane & (Amber) Jenkins, Tiffany Clark, Kayla Gardner, Taylor Gardner, Darrel & (Angela) Dorsey, Jr., Deanna & (Aaron) Rudy; eight great-grandchildren: Gage & Haley Butler, Landon Haines, McKenna & Bryce Clark, Cole Jenkins, Lila & Declan Dorsey and a special niece: Angela Israel of Roanoke, VA.

He is preceded in death by four brothers: Robert, Randall, William and Gene Clark.

A funeral will be held at the Calvary Church of the Brethren on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Officiating will be Pastor Chuck Davis. Interment will follow in the Mt. Hebron Cemetery in Winchester, VA.
