Obituary for Dr. Ebraham "Abe" Shekarchi

Dr. Ebraham “Abe” Shekarchi, 94, of Bethesda, MD died on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, MD.

Ebraham was born on May 23, 1923 in Iran, a son of the late Haji and Balaja Shekarchi. He was a Geologist for the US Bureau of Mines. He was a member of the US Geologic Survey, AIME, the Sigma XI and the Bethesda/Chevy Chase United Church of Christ in Bethesda, MD. Abe was a world-wide traveler of 70 different countries, especially loved traveling to West Virginia. He was a fan of Duke basketball, was a graduate of Tennessee University and most of all, loved being with his family.

Ebraham married Isabel Christison Shekarchi on May 6, 1954 in Durham, NC. Isabel died on December 10, 2009.

Surviving are two sons: John Shekarchi of Bethesda, MD; David Shekarchi of Gaithersburg, MD; a daughter: Lamia Shekarchi of Rockville, MD; a brother: Dr. Khalil Shekarchi of Providence, RI and four grandchildren.

The family will be receiving visitors on December 6, 2017 from 6 to 8 pm at the Woman's Club of Bethesda, 5500 Sonoma Road, Bethesda MD.

A private funeral service will be conducted Thursday, December 7, 2017, at 11:30 AM, at Giffin Funeral Home in Capon Bridge, WV. Interment will be Timber Ridge Cemetery in High View, WV. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
