Obituary for Elmer T. "Teddy" Sowers

Elmer T. “Teddy” Sowers, 80, of Augusta, WV, died on Friday, August 25, 2017 at his home while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.

Teddy was born on July 3, 1937 in Washington, DC, a son of the late Elmer William and Sybil A. Mullenax Sowers. He owned and operated E.T. Sowers Painting in Augusta for over 60 years. Teddy was an avid horseman, farmer, bee keeper and attended the Delray Christian Church.

Teddy married Eileen M. Motika Sowers on October 30, 1970 in Washington, DC.

Surviving with his wife of nearly 47 years is a son: Andrew T. Sowers; a daughter Maria C. Sowers both of Augusta, WV; a brother: James T. Sowers of Tennessee; a sister: Elizabeth A. McCall of Winchester, VA and three grandchildren.

Preceding him in death along with his parents is a special grandmother who raise him: Margaret Mullenax; a special aunt: Sally Mullenax and a sister: Patricia Beamer.

A celebration service will be held at the Hanging Rock Church of the Brethren Fellowship near Augusta on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 7 PM. Officiating will be Pastor Robert Combs & Ansel Peer, Minister. A private inurnment will be held later.

The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday an hour prior to the service.
