Obituary for Richard D. "Dick" Hyre, Sr.

Richard Dean “Dick” Hyre, Sr. 79, of Delray, WV died on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Winchester Medical Center.

Dick was born on February 26, 1938 in Clarksburg, WV, the son of the late John and Bessie Reed Hyre. He worked over 40 years as a Dry Waller for Waltec in Middleburg, VA. Dick had a love of hunting, Myrtle Beach, fishing, motorcycle riding, West Virginia Mountaineer football and was a drummer in a band for 20 years.

Dick married Helen Anderson Hyre on June 26, 1976 in Aldie, VA.

Surviving with his wife of 41 years are five sons: Richard D. Hyre, Jr. of Rippon, WV; Thomas M. Hyre of Winchester, VA; Ronald L. Hyre of Atlanta, GA; Donald R. Hyre of Berryville, VA; John P. Hyre of Martinsburg, WV; a daughter: Tambra M. Martin of Middletown, VA; a step son: Lewis S. Myers of Hume, VA; a step-daughter: Carol M. Ramey of Leesburg, VA a granddaughter whom he and Helen raised: Jennifer M. Hewitt of Gainesville, VA; a sister: Jean Atchisson of Fairview, IL; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and three step grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by five brothers and a sister.

A celebration of Dick’s life will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the Delray Christian Church in Delray, WV at 1 PM. Officiating will be Eric Bridges, Minister. Inurnment will be privately held at a later date.
