Obituary for Roy C. Pugh

Roy Cecil Pugh, 85, of Gore, VA died on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at the Winchester Medical Center.

Roy was born on February 25, 1933 in Capon Bridge, WV, a son of the late Cecil G. S. and Velda P. Belford Pugh. He was a United States Army Veteran and a member of the Capon Bridge Chapel United Methodist Church in High View, WV. He loved farming, hunting, was a former crane operator, mechanic, carpenter, masonry, “A Jack of all Trades,” a caretaker of Capon Chapel Cemetery and he took a lot of pride in his food ministry to the elderly.

Roy married Helen F. Ford Pugh on June 4, 1952 in Winchester, VA. Helen died on December 16, 2014

Surviving is a son: Roy E. Pugh (Connie) of Stephenson, VA; three daughters: Joan H. Leary (Brian) of Sardis, OH: Dale A. Shepherd (Dennis) of Winchester, VA; Lisa J. Pugh (Kevin) of High View, WV; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and his furry companion: Billy.

He is preceded in death by a brother: Richard Pugh.

A funeral service will be held at the Giffin Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Officiating will be Rev. Jack Wardrope. Interment will be in Capon Chapel Cemetery in High View, WV.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 from 6-8PM.
