Obituary for John S. Shanholtzer

John Seldon Shanholtzer, 78, of Augusta, WV died on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at his home.

John was born on August 8, 1940 in Augusta, WV, a son of the late George W. and Martha E. Topper Shanholtzer. He worked as a mechanic for Virginia Concrete Company in Alexandria, VA for 30 years, was a member of the Evangel Holiness Church in Augusta, WV and was an avid hunter & fisherman. John was a Jack of all trades, he would fix other people’s vehicles and loved sitting on his porch & picnic table drinking coffee.

John is survived by Ellen Packer Shanholtzer whom he married on June 10, 1989 in Augusta, WV.

John is also survived by three children: Trevor J. Shanholtzer of Romney, WV; Hali P. Shockey and her husband James of Slanesville, WV; Deanna L. Shanholtzer of Littleton, CO; a brother: Reggie Shanholtzer of Aurora, CO; a sister: Donna Baggarly of Front Royal, VA; six grandchildren: Holden L. Shockey, Paige M. Parker and her husband Tyler, Gentry B. Shockey, Autumn L. Sandel, Hannah G. Sandel, Kendyl J. Shanholtzer and a great-granddaughter who he adored: Nora Onile Parker.

He is preceded in death by six brothers: Lester, Charles “Chuck”, George, Jr., Kenneth, Jim, Kendall Shanholtzer; four sisters: Gladys Butler, Norma March, Eileen Athey and Loretta “Jean” Gibson.

A celebration of life to be held at a later date.
